ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION

Working in a dynamic and innovative environment, the primary purpose of the role is to provide physiotherapy services to players across the Worcester Warriors Junior Academy pathway (U14’s to U18’s).


Reports to: Academy Manager / Head of Medical Services

Location: Based at Sixways Stadium (but with regular travel across the Warriors Academy region).


 

WHAT TYPE OF PERSON ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Person:

- Current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and registration with the Health Professions Council.

- Minimum of 12 months experience of working within a physiotherapy within sport.

- Organised, efficient, and self-driven in all aspects of work.

- Capable of developing effective relationships with other staff members, players, and their parents, as well as multiple Academy stakeholders.

- High level of IT skills, with the ability to analyse and present data to coaching & other performance services staff.

- Qualified to (or the ability to obtain) the RFU PHICIS Level 3.

- The ability to obtain an enhanced RFU DBS certificate.

- Eligible to work in the UK.

- A full valid UK driving license.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To provide physiotherapy care to Worcester Warriors Academy players within the DPP, PDG and DiSE programmes.
  • Ensure all new injuries are monitored and medical notes are documented within 24 hours.
  • Ensure coaching staff and all other personnel are aware of the squad injuries and impact upon training availability.
  • Provide pitch side cover at Academy age-grade fixtures as directed by the Academy Manager.
  • Complete and circulate post-match injury reports on all matches for which you are lead physio.
  • Work closely with the performance support team to ensure all aspects of the injured player’s care is catered for.
  • Manage the injury rehabilitation programmes of the academy players in conjunction with the S&C coaching staff
  • Implement and deliver pre-participation screening protocols for all highlighted academy groups and individuals.
  • Responsible for the continued data entry of screening and in-season monitoring.
  • Play an integral part in player, parent and teacher education on injury prevention, treatment, and management.
  • Accompany players to consultations (where appropriate).
  • Ensure all treatment sessions are documented within 24 hours of completion on the Rugby Squad medical notes system.
  • Provide physiotherapy cover to Premiership Cup/Shield fixtures as and when directed by the Head of Medical Services.
  • Take part in regular CPD and in-service training as agreed with the Academy Manager and Head of Medical Services.
  • Manage student recruitment and involvement within the academy internship programme. Providing regular feedback and development opportunities for the interns on the programme.
